In our last entry, we mentioned that one of the things that matter to us for the success of this project is to make our research available outside academia. We do it through presentations and public conferences and this really gives us a sense of the interest that so many people have for the politics of LGBTIQ+ equality in our country. It might sound needless to say, but it’s always good to be reminded in a period of such crude and relentless attacks (among others) against sexual and gender minorities.
One other way we get our research outside of uni classrooms is through our Pride & Politics podcast (we won’t hide we’re quite proud of the name!). Massimo launched the podcast in May last year (2024) and has recorded a new episode every month since then. In each episode he explores, alone or with a guest, different aspects of our research. Beyond our project, the podcast takes stock of the state of LGBTIQ+ politics in our country inside and outside the institutions, in both its progressive and its reactionary transformations. The last three episodes take a closer look at anti-gender discourse, its origins, the fundamental threat it represents and its alliances with right-wing movements and ideology.
There’s no better way to celebrate Pride & Politics’ one year anniversary than waking up to 500 streams only over the last month!
