Entry 7: Research, discuss… eat!

One of the great things about our project is that we’re based in different universities and we come together to explore our common research interest from different perspectives. What is not so great about it is that we don’t share our work environments on a daily basis, so the occasion we can see each other in person are few and far between! But when such occasions come, it makes them even more precious!

Mid-march, several members of the project travelled to Verona for our third workshop. We had the time to have long and informal discussions among ourselves and to hear from different discussants that were happy to engage with our work and give us feedback. Pamela (Uni Pavia) shared her unit’s research titled The Uneven Progress of LGBTQI+ Rights in the EU: A Comparative Analysis of Determinants. Federico and Massimo (Uni Verona) let us sneak peek at the first results of their Protest event analysis on anti-gender mobilisations in 5 different European countries. Finally, Elisabetta and Gaia (Uni Trieste) offered a comparison of LGBTIQ+ equality policies trajectories between Italy and Portugal.

This trip to Verona was also a great occasion to plan ahead, coordinate and strategise on the ways we can make this research reach our colleagues in Italy and abroad but also on how to make it visible and accessible outside academia.

Last but not least… panels and discussion were great, but going out to several Verona restaurants together was greater!
